NCPD reports the arrest of Courtney W. Corbett of Brooklyn, 28, for Manslaughter that occurred in North Hills on Sunday, June 18.

North Hills, NY - June 19, 2017 - The Homicide Squad reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man for Manslaughter that occurred in North Hills on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at 3:50 pm.
 
According to detectives, A Third Precinct Police Officer after hearing a broadcast of three subjects that fled the scene of a larceny occurring at Sephora cosmetic store located at 1950 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset observed the subjects making a left turn on to Shelter Rock Road in a 2013 Hyundai Sonata.  
 
The officer activated his lights and siren in order for them to stop but they refused and instead drove recklessly heading south on Shelter Rock Road. The Subjects vehicle then made a right turn traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of traffic of the Long Island Expressway Service Road. The Police Officer stopped following due to the defendant’s actions and traffic conditions, thus losing visual contact with the subjects and vehicle.  
 
The defendant Courtney W. Corbett, 28, and his 27 year old female front passenger and 23 year old female rear passenger struck head on a 2007 Audi being driven by a 44 year old male and two male passengers ages 14 and 13. 
 
Driver Courtney W. Corbett was placed into police custody. He was transported to a local hospital and treated for multiple lacerations and contusions. The Front passenger who was 6 months pregnant, not breathing and unresponsive was transported in a Nassau County Ambulance to a local hospital. Both the female and the unborn child were pronounced deceased by a hospital physician. The rear passenger was transported and treated for a head injury. The driver of the Audi was transported by ambulance and treated at a local hospital for back pain. The two passengers were uninjured.
 
Defendant Courtney W. Corbett is charged with Manslaughter 2nd Degree, two counts of Assault 3rd Degree, and Reckless Driving. He is being arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday, June 19, 2017.
