Driver Injured in North Babylon Wrong-Way Crash, Police Report

Suffolk County Police are investigating a wrong-way crash that injured a West Islip man in North Babylon on Sunday, June 16.
 
Robert Wolf was driving a 2007 Chevy Malibu on Sunrise Highway South Service Road when the vehicle entered Sunrise Highway, just west of Route 231, traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes. The Malibu struck a 2002 Dodge pickup truck being driven by John Gallagher of Conway, South Carolina. A truck wheel fell off during the crash and struck a 2018 Volvo. A motorcyclist swerved to avoid the Volvo and struck the median.
 
Wolf, 74, of West Islip, is believed to have suffered a medical incident prior to the crash and was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in his vehicle was not injured. No other injuries were reported.
