Albany, NY - June 16, 2014 - Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced eight job fairs taking place in six regions across the state this week. The events will be held in Central New York, Long Island, Mid-Hudson Valley, New York City, Southern Tier and Western New York. In 2012 and 2013, these recruitment events put on by the Department of Labor (DOL) helped 600 businesses target and hire nearly 33,000 individuals.
"As more businesses are creating jobs across the state, we want to connect job-seeking New Yorkers with employers looking to hire," Governor Cuomo said. "These career fairs have helped us capitalize on positive economic growth and a better business climate. I encourage all New Yorkers looking for a job to inquire at the next career fair being held in their region."
This is just one of the no-cost services that any business in New York State is able to utilize. Another popular program is Jobs Express, Governor Cuomo’s online database (jobs.ny.gov), which currently lists more than 97,000 available positions. Businesses using these services could save tens of thousands of dollars each year.
Businesses can also utilize DOL professionals to help find a location for a recruitment, set an agenda to ensure the time is used efficiently, advertise and market the event, identify the most qualified applicants to narrow the candidate pool, as well as provide staffing and other support services and more. Events can be held at a worksite, an off-site location or in one of the 96 New York State Career Centers. This gives a business the flexibility to design an event that meets its unique needs.
State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera said, “Whatever kind of job you’re looking for – in whatever industry, in whatever region of the state, we’ve got something for you. We have over a hundred employers with thousands of jobs, ready to hire this week and I urge anyone looking for employment to seek out one of these fairs or recruitments.”

Southern Tier
The 2014 Greater Binghamton Career Fair will take place on June 20, 2014 in Binghamton. The event will take place from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the SUNY Broome Ice Center located at 970 Front Street.
