Mount Sinai, NY, May 2013 - On Monday, May 13, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker presented a certificate of notable recognition to New Beginnings Community Center at the organization’s Second Annual Golf Outing. The Long Island based group advocates on behalf of those affected by Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)  and other cognitive and physical disabilities, providing educational outreach programs for victims and creating awareness in the local community.

“New Beginnings has done a terrific job of providing hope and opportunity for those recovering from traumatic events,” said Legislator Anker. “I commend them for their compassion.”

New Beginnings Community Center was founded by the vision of Allyson Scerri. Allyson’s father was left with TBI after a motorcycle accident in 2007. Since that time, Allyson has dedicated her time to providing a place where victims of TBI and patients of other cognitive disorders can find support and rehabilitation.
