For children who will not feel intimidated standing next to a full size T-Rex, The Center for Science, Teaching & Learning (CSTL), a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to encourage science learning through hands-on STEM-based programs, will hold its annual Discovery Summer Camp in Rockville Centre, which will include for campers the opening of its new exhibit, Dinosaurs! and Animal Adventure. Providing youth ages four through 12 from across Long Island a unique summer, campers will be the first to explore Dinosaurs! and Animal Adventure, sponsored by Peoples United Bank. This exhibit is focused on animal adaption and features animatronic and model dinosaurs and a wide variety of animals including owls, hawks, bobcat, emu, mink, golden pheasants, goats, alligators, turtles, frogs along with a special exhibit, "The World of Rabbits.”

"At our Discovery Camp we make science and exploration fun where campers gain valuable exposure to interesting STEM concepts and projects. This is done as they engage in enjoyable camp activities and games. We work to inspire young people to embrace their sense of wonder and show them how science, which is all around us, is interesting and fun. When kids are involved in STEM and science it opens them up to explore new experiences," explains STEM Crusader and Advocate Dr. Ray Havasy, Director of CSTL.

Always interesting and engaging, Discovery Camp features all the programs and games that children love including arts and crafts, music, team events and challenges, special events and field day. The program takes these activities and mixes them with unique approaches to scientific disciplines that include zoology, biology, geology, physiology and paleontology. Inspiring creativity and exploration, campers conduct experiments and watch their ideas come to life. They will go on nature hikes and interact with animals as well as take part in science shows and demonstrations conducted by a full-time staff of professional science teachers, including CSTL's very own paleontologist.

The camp runs from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and is available in different camp length options for accommodate families. Camp rates start at $307.00. Rates increase based on how many weeks of camp are selected. Extended after care until 5 p.m. is available for an additional fee. A $150 per-session, non-refundable deposit is due to secure a place in the program. As a nonprofit, all camp tuition directly benefits CSTL and the STEM focused as well as project-based learning programs it offers for youth and educators within our local community.
