Suffolk County, NY - May 18, 2018 - Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone today held a pep rally with 600 students at New Lane Elementary school to kick off the new Suffolk County School Recycling Partnership Program. County Executive Bellone discussed how students will be active participants while addressing different highlights of the curriculum.

"Every single one of you here at New Lane Elementary has the power to help save the environment,” said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. “Each time you recycle a piece of plastic, paper or cardboard, you are not only protecting Long Island, you’re helping save our planet, and that’s remarkable."

The Suffolk County School Recycling Pilot Program will help schools meet their New York State recycling mandate, reduce costs, and promote environmental stewardship. The program will provide recycling bins, one industrial scale, and an educational curriculum to each school that makes the recycling process engaging and more quantifiable for the students.
