Nassau County, NY - May 18, 2014 - Nassau County residents are being financially targeted by individuals who are making false statements on the phone. Callers attempt to manipulate recipients into sending them money by pretending to be legitimate entities.
 
Examples of Phone Scams include:
  • Government Agencies
  • Utility Companies
  • Prize Winners
  • Kidnapped or arrested family members
Legitimate agencies and companies will NEVER ask you to send money via:
  • Green Dot MoneyPak
  • MoneyGram
  • Western Union
  • Other prepaid card/money transfer company
