Shoplifter in Custody After Allegedly Attacking Valley Stream Walmart Employee with Knife, NCPD Says

Jeffrey Davis, 21 (pictured), allegedly cut a Valley Stream Walmart employee with a knife after being caught shoplifting, cops say.

Fifth Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Brooklyn man for a Robbery that occurred on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 1:10 pm in Valley Stream.
 
According to detectives, officers responded to Walmart located at 77 Green Acres Road for a robbery.  Upon arrival, officers were informed that a male subject concealed store merchandise and exited the store passing all points of purchase without rendering payment.  
 
Loss Prevention Officers confronted the subject and attempted to escort him into their office where he became agitated and threatened them with a knife. Shortly thereafter, the subject began to swing his arms, causing a Loss Prevention Officer to suffer a laceration to his left thumb. During the altercation, the victim dropped his cell phone. The subject then picked it up and intentionally caused damaged to the phone by smashing it on the ground.
 
Subsequent to the investigation, officers located Jeffrey Davis, 21, of 190 Van Buren Street, a short distance away and placed him under arrest without further incident.
The male victim, 24, was treated for his injuries at the scene.
 
Defendant Jeffrey Davis is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Robbery 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree.  
 
He will be arraigned on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
