Riverhead, NY - April 24, 2015 - On April 17, Legislator Sarah Anker attended Long Island Farm Bureau 97th Annual Award Gala at the Riverhead Polish Hall. Legislator Anker was honored to present proclamations to Mr. Vincent Sasso of DeLea Sod Farms and to Mr. Doug Geed of News 12 Long Island. Mr. Sasso was the recepient of the Amherst Davis Memorial Farmer Citizen of the Year Award while Mr. Geed received the Long Island Farm Bureau Citizen Award.

“Both Vinny Sasso and Doug Geed have contributed greatly to educating our residents on the importance of our farming community. Many people don’t realize that Delea Sod Farm provides sod for Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium and the Long Island Ducks. In addition, Doug’s Emmy Award Winning East End Show provides insight about our farming legacy, ” said Legislator Anker.
