Man Charged with String of Attempted Robberies and Burglaries in Hempstead, Cops Say

Police: Travane Ramos, 28, was found to be responsible for two attempted robberies, five burglaries, and a criminal mischief.

Hempstead, NY - April 24, 2018 - Third Squad detectives report the arrest of a Hempstead man for an incident that occurred Monday, April 23, 2018 at 11:50 am in Hempstead.
 
According to detectives, Travane Ramos, 28, entered GNC, 158 Fulton Avenue, approached the stores clerk, lifted his shirt, put his hand inside his waistband as if to have a gun and demanded her to, “Open the register.” The clerk retreated to a back room and while observing Ramos attempting to break into the cash register, called 911.
 
Hempstead police responded to the scene and after a short foot pursuit Ramos was placed into custody.
 
During his arrest processing it was discovered that Ramos was responsible for an additional attempted robbery, five other burglaries and a criminal mischief; all occurring in Hempstead during April of 2018.
 
Ramos is charged with Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, Attempted Robbery 3rd Degree, five (5) counts of Burglary 3rd Degree, Attempted Burglary 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 4/24/2018.
