Police: Dix Hills Man in Custody After Allegedly Defrauding Client During Vehicle Sale

NCPD reports the arrest of Neil Sims of Dix Hills, 56, for Grand Larceny that occurred on Saturday, March 26, in Valley Stream.

Hempstead, NY - March 24, 2017 - The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Dix Hills man for Grand Larceny that occurred on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 2:00 pm in Valley Stream.
 
According to Crimes Against Property Squad detectives, Neil Sims, 56, defrauded the victim, 23, during a vehicle transaction.  The defendant, owner of 1-800 Preowned, located at 400 W Merrick Rd., Valley Stream, accepted extra funds from the victim while trading in his car to purchase a 2010 BMW.  Sims agreed to use the extra money to pay the remaining balance on the victim’s 2013 Honda Civic loan. The victim agreed to this transaction and later discovered the balance was never paid.
 
Subsequently, Sims sold the victim’s 2013 Honda without paying off the loan.  The defendant was arrested without incident.
 
The defendant is being charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree and Falsifying Business Records 1st degree.  He will be arraigned on Friday, March 24, 2017 at First District Court, Hempstead.
