Freeport Man Arrested in Lynbrook for Using Fake License to Cash Check

Lynbrook, NY - March 11th, 2014 - The Crimes Against Property Squad reports the arrest of a Freeport man for Possession of a Forged Instrument on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 9:50 A.M. in Lynbrook.

According to detectives, Emanuel G. Hernandez, 23, of 76 Bergen Place, entered Citibank located at 320 Merrick Road and attempted to cash a check using a forged California driver’s license of a California man.  The suspect was recognized as the same man who entered the same bank on Thursday, March 6 and cashed a check for $2000 using the same license as identification.   Offices from the Lynbrook Police Department were called and the suspect was placed under arrest at 9:50 A.M. without incident.  He was found to be in possession of a forged California driver’s license and $600 in cash which was returned to the bank.

Hernandez is charged with Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree, Forgery 2nd degree, Identity Theft 1st degree and Grand Larceny 4th degree.  He will be arraigned on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
