Man Arrested for Robbing Bay Shore Bank After Claiming He had Bomb, Cops Say

Suffolk County Police on Monday, March 6 arrested a man on for robbing a Bay Shore bank.
 
Donald Klapak entered Chase Bank, located at 537 East Main St., at approximately 10:40 a.m., handed a teller a note demanding cash and told the teller he had a bomb. 
 
The teller did not comply with his demands and Klapak exited the bank.
 
Klapak was located a short distance away by responding officers.
 
Klapak, 58, who is homeless, was charged with Attempted Robbery 3rd Degree. He will be held overnight at the Third Precinct for arraignment on March 7 at First District Court in Central Islip.
