Police: One Dead in Crash on Southern State Parkway on Monday Afternoon

A crash yesterday afternoon on the Southern State Parkway resulted in the death of a female passenger, according to eyewitnesses and police.

 

“Operator of vehicle was sole occupant and pronounced dead at the scene,” New York State police said in a statement.

 

The identity of the victim involved in the crash was withheld pending notification to their family.

 

On Monday, March 4th at around 2:45 pm, NYS police responded to a motor vehicle crash on the eastbound Southern State Parkway in the area of exit 40S, in the town of Islip the statement said.

 

All lanes on the Southern State Parkway eastbound at exit 39 and Southern State Parkway westbound left lane were closed for the investigation.

 

Some witnesses who said they contacted police said that it looked like the driver was headed westbound and lost control of her vehicle. The car went into the eastbound lane and the driver was ejected. It wa not clear if the driver was wearing her seatbelt.
