Nassau Cops Bust Man for Multiple Burglaries, Attempted Burglaries in Babylon and Lindenhurst

Matthew Matheis of Babylon, 30, was charged with two counts of Burglary, two counts of Attempted Burglary, four counts of Criminal Mischief and Possession of Burglar’s Tools.

Suffolk County Police on the evening of Wednesday, January 25 arrested a Babylon man for committing two burglaries and two attempted burglaries this week.
 
First Precinct Patrol officers responded to The Casual Foot Spa, located at 200 Montauk Highway, Lindenhurst, following a report of a burglary in progress at 10:20 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the front window of the store had been broken. Upon entering the building, they found Matthew Matheis burglarizing the store, and took him into custody at approximately 10:35 p.m.
 
Following an investigation by First Squad detectives, Matheis was identified as the man who committed two burglaries and two attempted burglaries since January 23 at these businesses:
 
  • Burglary. The Heathy Spa, located at 761 Deer Park Ave., North Babylon, on January 23 at approximately 9 p.m.
  • Attempted Burglary. The Laundry Room, located at 144 Route 109, West Babylon, on January 23 at approximately 6:50 a.m.
  • Attempted Burglary. The Casual Foot Spa, located at 200 Montauk Highway, Lindenhurst, on January 24 at approximately 3:10 a.m.
  • Burglary. The Casual Foot Spa, located at 200 Montauk Highway, Lindenhurst, on January 24 at approximately 10:35 p.m.
Matheis, 30, of 42 The Crescent, was charged with two counts of Burglary 3rd Degree, two counts of Attempted Burglary 3rd Degree, four counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and Possession of Burglar’s Tools. He is being held at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on January 25.
