West Hempstead, NY - September 23rd, 2014 - The Nassau County Crimes Against Property Squad reports the arrest of a West Hempstead man for Grand Larceny that occurred on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 07:20 a.m.

According to detectives, the defendant Sylvester Jackson, 54, of Lindberg Street, did open a business bank account on June 21, 2014 at Bethpage Federal Credit Union located at 1633 Dutch Broadway in Elmont. The defendant was observed on video at the Elmont and Hempstead branches between June 23, 2014 and July 12, 2014 making withdrawals from his account drawn from a deposited stolen United States Treasury check. The loss to the credit union was in excess of ($49,000) forty-nine thousand dollars. Further investigation led detectives to a residence on 128th Avenue, Jamaica where the defendant was placed under arrest.

Sylvester Jackson is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree and will be arraigned on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
