Baldwin Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Gas Station Hit-and-Run, Authorities Report

Joshua E. Roston of Baldwin, 33, allegedly ran over and killed worker Cemal Dagdeviren of Levittown, 59, after refusing to pay for gas, officials say.

NCPD reports that Joshua E. Roston of Baldwin, 33, was arrested in connection with a Fatal Vehicular Accident.

South Hempstead, NY - January 18, 2019 - The Homicide Squad reports that an arrest has been made in connection with a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred at 7:23am on Monday, January 14, 2019 in South Hempstead.
 
According to Detectives, Cemal Dagdeviren, 59, of Levittown was struck by a dark colored SUV in front of the Pit Stop Gas Station located at 1210 Grand Avenue. The SUV left the scene. Dagdeviren was transported to South Nassau Communities Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
 
The Homicide Squad has identified the subject driving the SUV as Joshua E. Roston, 33, of Baldwin. He is described as being male, black, 33 years of age, long dread loch style hair, grey sweatshirt, black pants, orange ski hat. Joshua E. Roston was driving a 1999 black GMC Suburban which is now in the possession of the Nassau County Police Department.
