Overnight Closures on the Loop Parkway in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County

The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that both directions of the Loop Parkway in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, will be closed to all traffic from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday, January 23 until Friday, January 27, weather permitting, to facilitate the ongoing rehabilitation of the drawbridge over Long Creek.

Motorists should follow the signed detour route via the Long Beach Bridge (Long Beach Boulevard connecting the City of Long Beach and the Village of Island Park) for access between the Long Beach barrier island and Long Island’s mainland.

The electronic message signs near the bridge will display additional updates and information.

Motorists are urged to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones.  Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.  Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
