Shoplifter Pepper-Sprays Valley Stream Sears Employee While Making Escape, NCPD Says

NCPD are investigating a robbery that occurred in Valley Stream.

Valley Stream, NY - January 17, 2019 - The Fifth Squad is investigating a robbery that occurred on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 12:00 P.M. in Valley Stream.
 
According to detectives, an unknown male subject walked inside the Sears department store located at 1015 Green Acres Mall, Sunrise Hwy, and took several tools from a display shelf and placed them in a bag. A male store employee attempted to stop the suspect from leaving the store with the unpaid merchandise. The suspect then took out a pepper spray can and sprayed the store employee in the face and ran north through the parking lot towards Sunrise Hwy. The victim refused medical attention at scene.
 
The subject is described as being a male, black, approximately 50 years of age and was last seen wearing a black winter jacket, black cargo pants, brown boots and a black hat.
