SCPD: Man Charged with Burglary After Crashing Vehicle Through Bay Shore Storefront

Bay Shore, NY - January 17, 2019 - Suffolk County Police arrested a man for burglary after he crashed his vehicle through a storefront in Bay Shore on Wednesday, January 16.
 
Robert Persad intentionally drove a 2001 Hyundai sedan into the front of Sunoco Gas Station Food Mart, located at 1400 Brentwood Road, Bay Shore at approximately 3:20 a.m. Persad exited the vehicle, stole merchandise, then fled the scene in the Hyundai.
 
Following an investigation by Third Squad detectives, Persad was arrested on Bay Shore Avenue in Deer Park at 10:07 p.m. Persad, 42, of Bay Shore, was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree. He is being held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip this morning.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
