NCPD Nabs Robber in Roosevelt

Roosevelt, NY - January 9th, 2014 - The First Squad reports an arrest for Robbery which occurred on Wednesday, January 08, 2014 at 4:20 P.M. in Roosevelt.

According to detectives, Marquise J. Utsey, 22, of 7 Rose Avenue, Roosevelt met victims on a male dating website “ADAM4ADAM”.  On Sunday, December 29, 2013, at 10:20 P.M. he got into the vehicle of a male victim, 23, at 3rd Place and Valentine Street and demanded cash after threatening the victim with a gun.  The victim complied giving an undisclosed amount of money and his i-Phone to Utsey before he fled on foot.  No gun was seen.  No injuries were reported.

On Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 6:15 P.M. the defendant got in the vehicle of a male victim, 39, at the corner of Beechwood Avenue and Willet Place.  Once in the vehicle Utsey and the victim began arguing at which time the defendant took the victims i-Phone before fleeing into the rear yards on Valentine Street.  No injuries were reported.

On Friday January 3, 2014 he got in to the vehicle of a male victim, 28, on East Roosevelt Street and Park Avenue and produced a small knife.  He demanded money from the victim and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the car.  The suspect fled the scene on foot.  No injuries were reported.

Utsey used the screen name “HUGE12” when he met the victims online.  On Wednesday, January 08, 2014 at 4:15 P.M. the First Squad in conjunction with Narcotics Squad conducted an investigation on Park Avenue at the corner of Valentine Street where the defendant offered to perform a sex act in exchange for money to an undercover detective.  He was placed under arrest without incident.

Utsey is charged with three counts of Robbery 1st degree and Prostitution.  He will be arraigned on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.  Detectives ask any possible victims of any similar incidents to contact the First Squad at 516-573-6152.
