LI's Adorable Adoptables is a weekly column by Allison Matos, a lifelong Long Island resident who has been advocating animal adoption since 2012. Allison's weekly posts highlight local animals in need of adoption, and cover general animal welfare topics as well.

Bonnie

Bonnie is a little sweetheart that just wants to snuggle and be loved! Born in July 2015, she was rescued from the tire rim of a truck and brought to the home of a Last Hope volunteer for fostering and socializing until her medicals were completed. Now this sweet girl is ready to find her Forever home! For more information about Bonnie, please contact (or better yet, visit) Last Hope Animal Rescue and you can also check out Bonnie’s webpage today!

Poor Carlos.  People often don’t realize that pets are a lifetime commitment and Carlos is no exception. This little boy’s family abandoned him because they were moving, and he wound up at Last Hope Animal Rescue. Carlos is a young and vibrant cat (born in 2007) and is sad and confused about his current situation.  Carlos is described as very sweet and loving who adores hanging out with humans.   Please consider providing a lifelong home for this boy where he can be forever loved and cherished. For more information about Carlos, check out his webpage.

Tammy

In another case of abandonment, we meet Tammy. This sweet, innocent and gorgeous girl was abandoned in the basement of her former home.  Left in the dark with no food or water, surrounded by old, ripped up mattresses.  Once brought to safety, this gorgeous girl was brought to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter where she awaits her forever home. Tammy is only 2 years old, a brown and white beautiful pit mix with the cutest “eye brow”. Tammy is very friendly with people and is being recommended for a home with teens. No felines for Tammy, but she does seem to be social with dogs. Tammy clearly hasn’t had a good start to life, but we hope her luck will change in the coming year. Please head down to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter to meet this amazing girl today!

Wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year and please remember to always adopt, never shop- pass it on!
