December 7, 2011-Smithtown, N.Y., Long Beach, N.Y.- After returning from their 16 day excursion to India, guests of India Journey with Grace, a unique travel company specializing in trips to the Indian subcontinent are left awed and inspired. Co-founders and hosts of the trip Grace Simonette and Margaret Cook brought their guests on an intimate journey that encompassed many lectures, performances, workshops and more, as they traveled through India's Golden Triangle, from Delhi to Jaipur to Agra and on to Darjeeling, in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Guests enjoyed a curated exploration of Indian food, religions, and culture designed to balance the demands of big cities with the peace of the countryside. Avoiding the cookie-cutter approach to travel, the group stayed in heritage hotels-historic buildings that were formerly homes of the wealthy that truly brought out the flavor of India.
"One of the many highlights of the trip was the evening we spent with an Indian family in their apartment-sharing a several course meal and experiencing the warmth and hospitality of the Indian people in a way that most tourists do not have the opportunity to enjoy," said Simonette.
Meeting religious historians and leaders, travelers were able to connect with a Buddhist Lama, a Hindu swami and other religious representatives in their unique houses of worship. Whether it was watching the sunrise over the Taj Mahal or trying on saris for the first time, guests truly felt a part of the Indian spirit.
Looking to share their knowledge and experience with interested travelers, India Journey with Grace brings guests on an annual excursion to India every October.
