VALLEY STREAM, NY - Central Veterinary Associates is reminding the public that it is offering emergency care services during the holiday season, including Thanksgiving Day. Central Veterinary Associates' hospital, located at 73 West Merrick Road in Valley Stream, is open 365 days per year, 24 hours per day.

Pet owners can bring their animals to Central Veterinary Associates' state-of-the-art facility in the event their pet becomes ill. Central Veterinary Associates offers emergency surgery, as well as emergency medical care for all conditions, including respiratory distress, bloat, dystocia, hit by car, ketoacidotic diabetes, traumatic injuries, seizure control or any other health issues. Its doctors are also knowledgeable in emergency medicine for birds, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, chinchillas and all reptiles and snakes.

Central Veterinary Associates has a staff of 110, including 17 veterinarians, a board-certified general practitioner and veterinary acupuncturist. The staff also includes a board-certified radiologist, surgeon and internist available for consultation.

"An animal could become sick unexpectedly and, when that occurs during Thanksgiving, many animal hospitals are closed during that time," said Dr. Steven Fox, President and Chief Executive Officer of Central Veterinary Associates. "We have our facilities open around the clock, 365 days a year, to provide care for your pet. There is a veterinarian available on the premises who will ensure your pet's health and well-being."

"Following emergency care, we will provide your regular veterinarian with your pet's medical records," Dr. Fox said. "We also want to remind the public that our rates for emergency care services are the same as regular care, with the exception of a modest $35 surcharge on your visit."
