After spending 17 years behind bars, Farmingdale man Paul Scrimo was released from prison due to his murder conviction being overturned. Scrimo was convicted in 2002 of the murder of Ruth William, a floral designer, and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

However, his conviction was recently overturned because an appeals court declared that the ruling of a Nassau County judge denied him a fair trial. After challenging his conviction for years, Scrimo was finally heard. The Farmingdale man is yet to be released until the prosecutors decide if they want a retrial.
