A Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) train derailed in Queens on Thursday morning, resulting in multiple minor injuries, according to reports.

The incident occurred east of Jamaica Station at the intersection of 175th Street and 95th Avenue, shortly after 11 a.m. The FDNY confirmed that eight train cars derailed during the accident, causing concern among commuters and authorities.

As of now, there are reports of up to 10 minor injuries. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) immediately responded to the scene and set up staging areas to provide prompt medical attention to the affected passengers.

In response to the emergency, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is dispatching a rescue train to transport the passengers to Jamaica Station. Commuters are urged to remain calm and follow instructions from authorities during the evacuation process.

The LIRR has announced temporary changes to its service as a result of the derailment. Eastbound trains are currently bypassing Hillside, Hollis, and Queens Village due to a disabled train located east of Jamaica. Passengers are advised to check with the LIRR for further updates on service resumption.

For alternative transportation, NYC Transit has implemented cross-honoring on the Q2, Q3, Q8, and Q110 buses to facilitate travel between Jamaica and Queens Village.

This is a developing story, and more information will be provided as it becomes available. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the derailment to prevent such incidents in the future.
