Nassau Cops Bust Burglary Suspect, Discover Multiple Warrants in Other Jurisdictions

Third Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Uniondale man for a Burglary that occurred on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 12:15 a.m. in Uniondale.
 
According to Detectives, Police received a 911 call for a Burglary in progress on Front Street. Detectives from the third squad were in the immediate area and apprehend Jerome Bowens, 57, of 275 Bedford Avenue in Uniondale, with assistance from Patrol Officers after he actively resisted arrest. He was found to be in possession of a white-rock like substance believed to be Crack-Cocaine. Defendant Bowens damaged a basement window and air conditioner in an attempt to Burglarize the home. 
 
A subsequent investigation by Detectives determined that defendant Bowens was responsible for other crimes in Nassau County for which he is being charged and has open warrants in multiple jurisdictions: 
 
  • Open 2020 Warrant from Poughkeepsie for Criminal Sexual Act 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, and Strangulation 2nd Degree.
  • Open 2013 Warrant from Rensselaer County for Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Unlawful Imprisonment 1st Degree, and Menacing 3rd Degree.
  • Open 2013 Warrant from the city of Troy for failure to pay fines.
 
Defendant Bowens is charged with Attempted Burglary 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree. Defendant Bowens is also being charged with open Nassau County cases: 10/12/2020, 8:30 p.m., Robbery 3rd Degree in Freeport , 4/1/2021, 12:10 p.m., Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd Degree in Uniondale. 
 
He will be arraigned when medically practical.
