Bethpage, NY - May 5, 2011 - In honor of National Physical Fitness & Sports Month, Physical Solutions has organized a Runners Group to train for the Cow Harbor 10K Race in Northport. The race is scheduled for Saturday, September 17 at 8:30am.
Physical Solutions will kick-off the Runners Group with two workshops. The first on Wednesday May 18 at 8pm in its Mineola office at 60 East Jericho Turnpike. The second workshop will be on Monday, May 23 at 8pm in its Bethpage office located at 1211 Stewart Avenue. The workshop will cover the running course, proper nutrition, running pitfalls, injuries and more. Light refreshments will be served. The runners group will meet weekly through the summer for off-site runs, strength training as well as yoga sessions and other workshops to prepare for the race in September. There is no charge for the workshops or weekly runners group.
Participants will have the opportunity to collect donations from supporters. All proceeds will go to Special Olympics-New York/Long Island. Through its programs, Special Olympics New York gives children and adults with intellectual disabilities continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
