Farmingdale Hosts the LI Special Olympics Spring Games

The Long Island Special Olympics Spring Games North come to Farmingdale on May 6.

The Long Island Special Olympics Spring Games North will be held at The Farmingdale Athletic Complex at Howitt Middle School in Farmingdale on Saturday, May 6. More than 500 athletes will compete in a variety of events including track and field events, wheelchair races, swimming, powerlifting, and tennis. The competition is being hosted by the Farmingdale School District with support from the Town of Oyster Bay. Hundreds of spectators are expected to cheer on athletes and the public is invited to attend. Opening ceremonies start at 9:30 a.m. and competition kicks off at 10:30 a.m.

 

The Long Island Special Olympics is part of the Special Olympics New York, dedicated to providing athletes with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to challenge themselves in fair and even competition. The Long Island Region serves more than 5,500 athletes each year. 

 

The track and field, swimming, and powerlifting events will take place at Howitt Middle School at 522 Conklin Street in Farmingdale. Allen Park at 45 Motor Avenue in Farmingdale will host the tennis competitions.
