Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash

A man in West Babylon died in a two-vehicle crash, with detectives investigating the incident and requesting information from anyone who may have witnessed it.

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a man in West Babylon this morning. 
 
David Martinez was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala westbound on Commander Avenue when he attempted to make a left turn on to southbound Straight Path and his vehicle was struck by a 2015 GMC Acadia, driven by an 18-year-old, that was traveling northbound on Straight Path at 5:36 a.m.
 
Martinez, 63, of West Babylon, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. The 18-year-old driver, of West Babylon, was not injured.
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check.
