Check out these great events happening at the local libraries! On Monday, enjoy making cupcakes to take home with you with Kathy Giovalakis. There’s also an opportunity to learn to knit at John Jermain Library. On Tuesday, Baldwin Library will screen Sparkle. On Wednesday, enjoy an evening of yoga at Westhampton Free Library. Other entertainment happening during the week include the Winter Interlude Dance Party at the Winner’s Circle, belly dancer aerobics at Lodge at the Squiretown Park, a singles dance party at Mirelle’s Restaurant and Catering and an all-star comedy show at Governor’s of Levittown. MONDAY – JANUARY 14, 2013

Who: Hunger Games Cupcakes At Garden City Library
Info: Kathy Giovalakis will be on hand to teach everyone how to use a decorating bag. Once that is mastered, there’s the chance to create three Hunger Games decorated cupcakes. The creations will be loaded up into a cupcake box for you to bring home. The program is limited to 25 young adults. Make sure you register.

Who: Come Knit With Us At John Jermain Library
Info: Looking to take up knitting? Stop by John Jermain Library for its group needlework session. There will be help with design, instruction and much more.
Cost: Free Event, But Yarn Donations Are Always Welcome

TUESDAY – JANUARY 15, 2013

Who: Sparkle Showing At Baldwin Library
Info: Enjoy the night with a movie – Sparkle. The movie is set in the 1960s with three sisters forming a singing group. They dream of becoming stars, but as they become more famous, the close-knit nature of the family begins to fall part. It stars the late Whitney Houston, Jordin Sparks, Derek Luke, Mike Epps, Carmen Ejogo and Tika Sumpter.

Who: Winter Interlude Dance Party At The Winner’s Circle
Info: DJ Johnny Hustle will host the night with new and classic hustle music. There will be a touch of salsa and freestyle dance. Hustle lessons will be provided by Mary Piazza and then it’ll be an open dance floor.

WEDNESDAY – JANUARY 16, 2013

Who: Evening Yoga At Westhampton Free Library
Info: Relax this evening to a gentle yoga session. The session is suitable for all levels of experience.

Who: Intro To Belly Dance Aerobics Fitness Dance At Lodge At Squiretown Park
Info: This program runs every Wednesday through March 27. You’ll master the basic techniques of belly dancing while getting a great workout.
Cost: $30 For 5 Classes (Residents); $40 For 5 Classes (Non-Residents)

THURSDAY – JANUARY 17, 2013

Who: Singles Dance At Mirelle’s Restaurant and Catering
Info: It’ll be a fun evening of dancing for singles between the age of 35 and 65. Dance to Latin and hustle music. There will also be swing dancing. A hot buffet will also be available.

Who: All-Star Comedy Show At Governor’s Of Levittown
Info: The comedy show will feature the best comics from Long Island and around the country. There is a two beverage minimum per person.
