The Second Squad reports the arrest of a male juvenile for an Assault that occurred on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 3:40 pm in Syosset.
 
According to detectives, officers responded to a disturbance at Mercy First located at 525 Covent Road. Upon arrival, officers were informed that a male juvenile, 17, had left the facility. Officers located the male a short time later on Covent Road. During the investigation, the juvenile became violent and combative, causing a struggle to ensue. An officer sustained an injury to his right hand and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. The male juvenile was placed into custody and transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
 
The juvenile is charged with Assault 2 nd Degree, Escape 1 st Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2 nd Degree and Criminal Contempt 2 nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
