Cops: Woman Arrested after Fleeing from Officer, Leaving Scene of North Babylon Accident

North Babylon, NY - January 14, 2019 - Suffolk County Police arrested a woman for fleeing from a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident in North Babylon on Sunday, January 13.
 
Keyanna Hagood was driving a 1999 Hyundai Elantra eastbound on the Sunrise Highway Service Road when a First Precinct officer in a patrol vehicle attempted to initiate a traffic stop for inadequate headlights at approximately 7:20 p.m. The Elantra sped away from the officer and crashed a short time later on Sunrise Highway Service Road near Lotus Street. 
 
Hagood, and a passenger in the vehicle, Christopher Bonacorsi, fled the scene on foot. First Precinct officers located and arrested Hagood and Bonacorsi a short time later in the rear yard of a residence on Freedom Street in North Babylon.
 
Hagood, 19, of Islip, was charged with Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage and Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree. Bonacorsi, 22, of Shirley, was charged with 2 counts of Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree.
 
Hagood was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct. Bonacorsi is being held overnight at the First Precinct. Both are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip in the morning.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
