For the Coastal Flood Statement, up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. * WHERE...Northwest Suffolk County. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 3 AM EDT early this morning. For the Coastal Flood Statement, late tonight. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience minor flooding.

Suffolk County, NY - December 30, 2016 - “It’s important that the Suffolk County Police Department ensure a safe night as people ring in the New Year. The department is taking a number of steps to keep our communities secure. Enhanced police patrols and specialized units will provide increased enforcement and high-visibility checks at large gatherings and special events, as well as checks at transportation facilities.

We want everyone in Suffolk County to enjoy their festivities. To keep the roads safe, we will be out in full force targeting those who drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
