"Winter Weather Advisory" ...Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 2 am EST Wednesday... * locations...New York City...Nassau and western Suffolk County...as well as Union...Essex and Hudson counties... * hazard types...snow...sleet and freezing rain. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches...along with less than a tenth of an inch of ice. * Temperatures...in the lower 30s. * Timing...snow develops late this afternoon...then mixes with sleet and freezing rain this evening before changing to freezing rain by midnight...then to plain rain late at night. * Impacts...snow covered surfaces...coated with ice...will make traveling difficult at times. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Road Closures in Huntington and Bay Shore On 9/6 and 9/7

The SCPD has issued the following traffic advisories.

Huntington, NY - September 5, 2014 - Suffolk County Police are advising motorists of a road closure in the Second Precinct on Saturday, September 6 due to the Huntington Awareness Day parade. Route 110 will be closed in both directions between West Hills Road and the Big H Shopping Center (Holdsworth Drive/Semon Road) between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
 
The Suffolk County Police Department Third Precinct is  also advising motorists of a road closure in Bay Shore on Sunday, September 7 for the Central American Parade. Fifth Avenue will be closed between Spur Drive North and Candlewood Road from 10 a.m. until approximately 2 p.m. Traffic will be detoured to alternate routes.
