The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a dense fog advisory, which is in effect until 11 am EST this morning. * Visibilities...one quarter mile or less. * Timing...until 11 a.M. * Impacts...hazardous driving conditions due to reduce visibility. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to one quarter mile or less. If driving...slow down...use your low beam headlights...and leave plenty of distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed. 12 , "Special Statement" ...Areas of dense fog tonight... South winds continue to transport unusually mild and moist air north across the area as high pressure moves out to sea. Areas of fog will continue developing and become locally dense, restricting visibilities to 1/4 mile or less mainly from New York City north and east across southern Connecticut and Long Island. This fog is forecast to persist through Saturday morning. Motorists should be alert while driving into rapidly reduced visibilities. Road Closures in Huntington and Bay Shore On 9/6 and 9/7

The SCPD has issued the following traffic advisories.

Huntington, NY - September 5, 2014 - Suffolk County Police are advising motorists of a road closure in the Second Precinct on Saturday, September 6 due to the Huntington Awareness Day parade. Route 110 will be closed in both directions between West Hills Road and the Big H Shopping Center (Holdsworth Drive/Semon Road) between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
 
The Suffolk County Police Department Third Precinct is  also advising motorists of a road closure in Bay Shore on Sunday, September 7 for the Central American Parade. Fifth Avenue will be closed between Spur Drive North and Candlewood Road from 10 a.m. until approximately 2 p.m. Traffic will be detoured to alternate routes.
