Police Arrest Man Minutes after Stealing iPhone from Woman at Holtsville Ecology Center

Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for robbing a woman of her iPhone at the Holtsville Ecology Center this morning.

Holtsville, NY - July 12th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for robbing a woman of her iPhone at the Holtsville Ecology Center this morning.

Police received a call at 10:45 a.m. regarding a man who stole a woman’s iPhone while she was exercising just off the running track at the Center. The woman was threatened with a knife, and the man fled on foot.

5th Precinct Officer Matthew Sforza, responded to the scene, and noticed a man running on Prince Street, North Patchogue, that fit the description of the suspect. Officer Sforza apprehended the suspect, Abdias Alvarez-Jolon at approximately 10:50 a.m.

Alvarez-Jolon, 22, of 209 Risley Rd., North Patchogue, was charged with Robbery 1st Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on July 13.
