Suffolk County students K-12 are invited to join their participating local public library on Monday September 26th for demonstrations on accessing the benefits of real-time, online, homework tutoring help available to them for free with a library card. Beginning September 19, WBLI 106.1 FM Radio will be announcing opportunities for students to also enter a Word of the Day drawing to win a $50 certificate at participating Friendly's Restaurants.

Each day of the week for six weeks beginning September 19, a Word of the Day - for example, colloquial - will be posted at the Suffolk County digital branch, www.live-brary.com homepage with a link back to the WBLI.com contest page. There, contestants will fill in the entry form with the day's word in order to be eligible for a chance to win the week's random drawing for a $50 Friendly's certificate. Winners will be contacted by the radio station and posted at WBLI.com and live-brary.com. The certificates will be made available for pickup either at the radio station or the winner's local public library.

Homework Help Day on Monday September 26th will showcase the live tutoring help available to cardholders at the county's one-stop digital branch: Live-brary.com. By clicking the menu tab Live Study Help/K- 12 on the Live-brary.com website, students gain access to free interaction with licensed and trained tutors ready to help them brush up, stay on top of, or get in front of class work. The library demonstrations will cover how to obtain help in math, science, reading/writing, social studies, and general skills building. For more information and a schedule of demonstrations, call or visit the website of your local public library.
During the year, live tutoring help is available online Monday - Sunday from 2 to 11 p.m., excluding some holidays. As the school year progresses, tutors also offer assistance in prepping for PSAT/SAT, ACT, AP and state standardized tests. A 24-hour Writing Lab allows students to submit essays and other forms of writing for constructive feedback in as little as one day.

New public library patrons may obtain a temporary library card online for immediate access to live tutoring help prior to picking up a full use card at their local public library. Simply click on the Get A Card tab at Live-brary.com to receive a temporary 30-day card.
