First Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Hempstead man for Leaving the Scene of an Incident that occurred on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at 7:25 pm in Uniondale.
 
According to detectives, officers responded to the vicinity of Front Street and Maple Avenue for a pedestrian struck.  Upon arrival, officers observed a male on the ground bleeding heavily from the right side of his face.  A witness notified police about a grey 2001 Mercury that had extensive front windshield damage, which left the scene.
 
The victim, 60, suffered head and leg trauma. He was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment. 
 
A thorough investigation was conducted and Robert Hauswald, 68, of 820 Front Street was arrested without incident.
 
Defendant Hauswald is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident.  He was issued an Appearance Ticket for First District Court on January 8, 2024.
