It’s that time of year when we reflect on the things we have accomplished (and the things we didn’t get around to) in the last 12 months. Then we make a list of the resolutions we will absolutely do in the coming year. While you are compiling your New Year’s Resolutions for 2020 why not try something out of left field and learn a skill you never thought about before.

Soup Making - Come in out of the cold for a fun evening in the Smithtown Historical Society's Brush Barn. Create three different soup mixes in mason jars, homemade butter, and old fashioned Johnny Cakes!  Great for a gift or perfect for a cozy winter evening at home. Learn to Dance Bachata - Bachata is a romantic style of dance from the Dominican Republic. This popular partner dance is sexy, playful, and surprisingly easy. Location: Rhythmology, 1587 Stewart Avenue, Westbury, (516) 280-6677.

Organize - Bring stylish structure to your home when you join Home Depot’s Cube Organizer Workshop. Store Associates will guide you as you build a chic spot to store small items. The container fits 12” boxes, ideal for quick storage solutions in any mudroom or entryway. For more information, contact your local Home Depot store.


3D Printing & Engineering Design - Learn how to use Tinkercad and Polar Cloud to print your very own designs on our 3D printer. Students will explore the language of 3D printing, explore the engineering design process, and learn the basics of how to use a CAD program. Participants will have the opportunity to print their very own design. This is a 5 class session for 3rd-5th grade. Bridge Building - Civil engineering is everywhere you look. These engineers shape our environment through structures such as roads, buildings, bridges, and dams. Come and try your hand at being an engineer for a day. Learn about shapes and how to use them to build sturdy structures. Build your very own take home bridge.
