The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of four male juveniles for a Robbery that occurred on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 4:45 am in Hempstead.

According to detectives, a 30-year-old male victim was refueling his vehicle at Conoco Gas Station located at 2 Hempstead Avenue, when a black KIA occupied by 3 fifteen-year-old male juveniles and 1 fourteen-year-old male juvenile, pulled up next to him.  The four males exited the vehicle and one of the juveniles displayed what appeared to be a firearm, ordering the victim to hand over his belongings. Fearing for his life, the victim complied and gave the subjects approximately $300.00 USC.  The four male juveniles then fled the scene in the black KIA.

A short time later, an 18-year-old male victim was walking on Westminster Road near the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike, when the same 4 male juvenile subjects stopped their vehicle next to him and exited. One of the subjects displayed what appeared to be a firearm and ordered the victim to hand over his belongings. Fearing for his life, the victim complied, giving the subjects his I-Phone and headphones.   The four male juveniles then fled the scene in their vehicle.

Fifth Precinct Officers on patrol observed the black KIA driving southbound from Virginia Drive onto Benson Avenue and attempted to conduct a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and continued to travel southbound on Steward Street in Elmont. The driver exited the vehicle while it was still in motion and the car collided with an unoccupied parked vehicle on Lucille Avenue.  At this time, the three occupants also fled from the vehicle.

After a brief foot pursuit, the four male juveniles were located by officers and placed under arrest without further incident. The 15-year-old driver and two 15-year-old occupants were transported to the Fifth Precinct for arrest processing. The 14-year-old occupant was transported to a nearby hospital for assessment.

Further investigation revealed that the displayed firearm was an airsoft gun and the black KIA had been reported stolen from Hempstead earlier in the evening.

All four juvenile defendants are charged with two counts of Robbery 1st Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd Degree and Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree. They will be arraigned on Friday, December 22, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
