A new pop up kitchen is serving up the flavors of Trinidad and Tobago right here on Long Island. Trini Bites in Lynbrook promises Trini street foods, with a hint of innovation for takeout or delivery every Saturday.

Orders can be placed in-person, over the phone or online.

The menu features Double Bites, which they say are one of the most popular Trinidadian street foods. Bara, pillow soft, fried dough, is served with channa, curried chick peas. They suggest a choice of accents including tamarind sauce - a sweet and savory sauce made from the tamarind fruit, cucumber chutney, mango chow, homemade peppa sauce, extra potatoes or extra channa - curry chickpea.

They also serve beef, chicken, shrimp and veggies wontons - Trinidadian style. These wontons have a curry surprise inside. Special dishes include Bake and Fish, a Trinidadian staple, fried dough filled with saltfish (cod fish).

On Yelp, Sharda R, from Manhattan, gave Trini Bites five stars.

“Cute little ghost kitchen set up with  good food,” she wrote. “Tasty, hot and freshly made to order (be prepared for a bit of a wait). The prices match the portion size. Delicious dipping sauces (they should bottle this stuff).”

She only wishes that they were open more than just one day a week.

Alana W, from Rockville Centre, loved it.

“This new Trini spot is SO GOOD,” she wrote enthusiastically. “After my go-to spot closed for weeks, I discovered Trini Bites and decided to give them a try. They just snagged a new regular!”
