Drunk Driver Plows into Two Police Cruisers in Vicinity of Riverhead Cemetery, Officials Say

Jason Velasquez of Riverhead, 28, was placed under arrest at the scene for Driving While Intoxicated, in addition to several traffic and vehicle infractions.

According to the Riverhead Police Department, a man crashed his car into two police cruisers while allegedly driving drunk at approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday, December 9.
 
Jason Velasquez of Riverhead, 28, is said to have plowed into two Riverhead Police cars that were parked near Riverhead Cemetery while driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound on Roanoke Avenue. Both law enforcement vehicles had their emergency lights on at the time of the accident, officials say, and were not occupied at the time of the crash.
