Elmont, NY - December 9, 2016 - Several have issued statements following the cancellation of the Belmont Park Request for Proposals (RFP).

Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages: “The recent decision by the Empire State Development Corp., revoking the request for proposals to redevelop Belmont Park, is a victory for the community,” stated Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages. “Since 2012, I have advocated for the repeal of this flawed R.F.P.  Now, I urge the State to solicit serious proposals that will embellish the horse racing industry already in place, while creating high paying jobs and protecting the quality of life throughout the surrounding communities. Belmont Park is hundreds of acres of economic opportunity for Long Island.  Now is the time to transform Belmont Park into a world class destination.”

Senator Todd Kaminsky: "The Belmont project has tremendous potential for both economic development and the betterment of its surrounding neighborhood. I hope that the State expands its horizons as to what is possible for the area, and I will ensure that the Elmont community is heard throughout the process.”
