Suspect in Custody in Connection with Robbery of Valley Stream Bank, Officials Report

Valley Stream, NY - November 3, 2017 - The Major Case Bureau’s Robbery Squad reports the arrest of a Valley Stream man for Robbery that occurred on Thursday, November 02, 2017 at 11:30 am in Valley Stream.
 
According to Robbery Squad detectives, John Candelaria, 17, walked into TD Bank located at 275 W. Merrick Road, Valley Stream, and gave the teller a demand note. The victim complied and gave Candelaria an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency. He fled the scene on foot. Candelaria was located a short time later and was arrested without incident.
 
Defendant Candelaria is charged with Robbery 3rd degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, November 3, 2017 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
