SCPD arrested Jemel Edwards of Deer Park, 32, for burglary, grand larceny, and DWI.

Melville, NY - November 1, 2018 - Suffolk County Police on Wednesday, October 31 arrested a man for burglary, grand larceny, and DWI in Melville.
 
Jemel Edwards unlawfully entered the residence located at 4 Jacob’s Path in Melville at approximately 9:55 p.m. When confronted by the homeowner, he fled through the front door with keys he stole from the house and drove away in the owner’s 2014 Toyota Camry. A patrol officer in the area located the vehicle stopped on Jacob’s Path at the corner of Waterford Drive at approximately 10:05 p.m.  
 
Edwards, 32, of Deer Park, was arrested and charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, and Driving While Intoxicated, 2nd offense, a felony.
 
Edwards was held overnight at the Second Precinct and is was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday morning.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
