Suffolk Police: East Northport Man Struck and Killed by Motorist While Doing Yardwork

East Northport, NY - October 26, 2017 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in East Northport, N.Y.
 
Richard Oliveri was operating a leaf blower near his home on the shoulder of Clay Pitts Road approximately 700 ft. west of Cedrus Avenue in East Northport, at approximately 6:20 p.m. when he was struck by an eastbound 2014 Jeep Wrangler. Oliveri, 35, suffered a severe head injury and was transported by East Northport Fire Department to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
 
The driver of the Jeep, James Monahan, 48, of East Northport, was not injured and remained at the scene.
 
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Second Squad Detectives at 631-854-8252 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
