Queens Man Tased, Arrested After Fleeing Traffic Stop, Resisting Police

The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Queens man on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 4:44 pm in North Lawrence.
 
Officers on patrol observed a grey 2007 Lexus with a Georgia registration traveling on Nassau Expressway and turned right onto Wanser Avenue at a high rate of speed committing multiple VTL violations while proceeding through a school zone. Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop. 
 
The subject exited his vehicle carrying a red and white tote bag and fled on foot southbound on Lawrence Avenue in Inwood. Officers located the subject at 10 Bayview Avenue in North Lawrence where he repeatedly failed to comply with Officers demands. Officers had to utilize an Electronic Control Device (ECD), Taser, which successfully allowed officers to place him into custody. 
 
The subject was transported to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation. Subsequent to the investigation, Officers recovered 4 pills believed to be Oxycodone, a green leafy substance believed to be Marijuana and fireworks inside the vehicle.
 
Defendant William Milton, 31, of 14733 76th Avenue, Flushing is charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7Th Degree, Unlawfully Possessing of Fireworks, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and multiple VTL violations. 
 
He was arraigned on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
