Brentwood, NY - October 3, 2017 - Jose Gomez, 35, of Brentwood was sentenced today to a prison term of 15 years for the rape of a teenage female last year, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.

Judge Timothy Mazzei sentenced the defendant Jose Gomez to 15 years with five years post release supervision for his conviction on the top count of the indictment, rape in the first degree; on the two remaining counts, Judge Mazzei sentenced Gomez concurrently to seven years for burglary and five years for sex abuse.

A jury in Riverhead convicted Gomez, 35, in August after a weeklong trial.

District Attorney Spota said Gomez climbed through a bathroom window of a home in Brentwood to sexually assault a 19 year old female in September of last year. The defendant fled the home when the victim’s two brothers disrupted the attack and was arrested by police 29 days later.
