Man Arrested for DWI after Crashing Vehicle into Building, Authorities Report

Patchogue, NY - October 1, 2018 - Suffolk County Police arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after he crashed his vehicle into a building in Patchogue on Saturday, September 29.
 
Chester Ciancarelli was driving a 2012 Toyota Scion eastbound in the westbound lane on East Main Street, near the intersection of Bay Avenue, when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the building located at 288 East Main Street at approximately 11:45 p.m.
 
A 38-year-old female passenger in the Toyota was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Ciancarelli was not injured. The building was unoccupied at the time of the crash.
 
Ciancarelli, 44, of Shirley was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He will be held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 30.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
