Freeport Man Arrested for Assaulting Nassau Police Officer, Officials Say

The First Squad reports on the arrest of a Freeport man for Assault on a Police Officer that occurred in Uniondale.
 
According to detectives, police were called to the Frontera bar located at 963 Nassau Road and upon arrival were told by security staff that defendant Luis Meza, 31, had caused a disturbance and would not vacate the premises. Police informed the defendant that he had to leave and escorted him a short distance before he refused to move any further and stated to officers that he would not leave. 
 
Defendant Luis Meza was informed he was being placed under arrest and in the process, he struck an officer with his fist. The defendant was quickly arrested by several other officers at scene but continued to twist and flail his legs in attempt to kick the arresting officers. The officer suffered minor swelling and abrasions to the left side of his face and was transported to a local hospital for further treatment. Defendant Luis Meza was also transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
 
Defendant Luis Meza is charged with Assault 2nd degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree and Disorderly Conduct. He was arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
